Jay Matthes

Vocalist & Guitarist

A Common Engine band – August 1, 2011 · A Common Engine took second place in this years battle of the bands at Germanfest! It was a thrill for all of us to play the rock stage at the Summerfest grounds and to open for 10,000 Maniacs on Sunday. Not bad for our first two gigs as a band. Check out the pics, and some live audio will be available soon.

July 16, 2013 · We’ve been thrilled with the response to our new CD ‘Keep You Awake’

Jay Matthes – vocalist/guitarist; 2002 HHS Graduate;: I began playing professionally in July 2011; my band A Common Engine . Since then, my musical projects have earned opening spots for national acts such as Jana Kramer, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Mike Dawes, 10,000 Maniacs, Charlie Worsham, Natalie Stovall and the Drive, and more. I’ve played many of the major venues in Wisconsin, from Cactus Club to Summerfest to The Rave, plus multiple local festivals and events. My original music has been featured on 106.1 WMIL, 92.5 WBWI, 89.7 WUWM, and 102.1 WLUM, as well as TMJ4’s Wisconsin Tonight and Channel 12 WISN. Press has included features in Breaking & Entering, Shepherd Express, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and OnMilwaukee.com. Currently I play solo acoustic gigs across the Midwest in support of my new album “A Drier Place”. source:http://www.jaymatthes.com/#!bio

A Common Engine – August 12, 2013 · Jay Matthes:  As of about a week ago, Ross, Jake, Luis, and I have decided to go our separate ways musically. Thank you to everyone who supported us over the last two and a half years. It was a pleasure playing with the bands we did and we appreciate the venues and promoters who brought us in. Germanfest, Shank Hall, BBC on North, Miller Park, Miramar Theatre, Summerfest, The Rave, IndyFest, Up & Under, Cactus Club – the best Milwaukee has to offer and places we’ve always wanted to play growing up. We couldn’t have done any of it without our family, friends, and fans, so thank you for everything.
