1990’s Thru the Present: Growth and Building

1990/3/20 – Lannon’s new logo is “Lannon – Built on Solid Ground“,submitted by 4th Grader Amy Gall of Lannon Elementary School. She received a $75prize for being chosen, Two others received runner-up prizes. The logo will beused on a special cancellation stamp on August 2nd. Amy’s logo stressed thatfirst Lannon is home to many stone quarries, from which the village name alsoderives. The logo features a stone wall topped with signs of industry, farming,and commercial business. It was topped with a baseball player symbolic of thevillage’s premier Land O’ Lakes teams. 3,00 specially printed envelopes with thelogo will be sold at the Village Hall on August 2nd, costing $1 each plus the 25cent postage stamp.

    /Sept – The first students attending the newHamilton High School in 1962 had a reunion.

1991 – due to over-crowding in other districts schools, WillowSprings School is back to teaching kindergarten thru 5th Grade.

1992 – Mr. Toshner taught a combined/split4th and 5th Grade class due to over-crowding.

1993/12/7  – Sandra L. Landgren, music teacher at Lannon, presented “A Holiday SuiteFor You”.

                   – Lynelle Sandron hired as an emotional disabilitiesaide.

        /12/28 – Lannon students donate over $400 of toys to the needy by giving up their usual$1-2 gift exchange. The toys were purchased by the teachers and delivered to theSussex Emergency Food Pantry.

1994/1/11 – Lannon Elementary School grades were entertained by mime and magician Ardan James, presenting “You Mean More toMe Than Pizza”; designed to show how self-worth and a good sense of humorare keys to success for today’s young people.

        /4/12 – Louise Champan interim principal at LannonElementary School after Sylvestor (Syl) Racinowski takes an extended leave ofabsence due to rheumatoid arthritis is named his official successor. Ms. Champanis a 19 year teacher veteran.

        /July – Plans unveiled for addition to Lannon Elementary School; referendum passes inNov, 1994

1995/1/20 – Bernice Platodied, age 71, former 1st grade teacher and reading specialist. Spent 34 yearsteaching, starting at Lannon Elementary in 1955. In 1968 became readingspecialist serving Willow Spring, Lannon, and North Lisbon School (today’sLisbon Town Hall. Retired in 1989; resident of Menomonee Falls.

        /1/24 – 1st Gradersin Karenlee Kubanek’s class construct a model Lannon neighborhood.

        /2/12- Helen Pantelis, 4th Grade teacher at Lannon, dies in a car accident; was inHamilton School District for 25 years, since 1970. In 1980 she came to Lannonteaching 2nd, 4th, and 5th Grades. Helen taught in Milwaukee for 5 years beforecoming to Hamilton School District. She was born in 1940.

        /3/7 – Kyle Bode, a6th grader from St. John’s Lutheran School in Lannon took first place in the1995 District Spelling Bee.

        /4/11 – Lannon Schoolis once again sponsoring a book drive for distribution to children and theirfamilies in the central city of Milwaukee.

1998 – The school was recognized for the bank created within theschool in cooperation with Associated Bank in Sussex. Partners for Educationpresented the Good Idea Award to the school for its outstanding contribution toeducation innovation.

1999/Spring – Willow Springs: the last classes are taught (kindergarten – 5th)and all students will be transferred to the new Woodside Elementary School.

1999-2000 School Year – Lannon Elementary Schoolcollects 6,150 General Mills boxtops making various student and teacher projectspossible.

ABSTRACT: Series contains the records of the districts that merged toform Hamilton Schools in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Most of the records arefrom 1955-1961. The majority of the records are general record books, whichcontain minutes of the annual school board meeting, financial statements, andteacher contracts. There are also school board meeting minutes in Districts 1,5, 7 and 10. District Number 7 has a pupil register and a record book of librarymaterial circulation.

The series contains records from the following school districts:

District No. 3 (Villages of Lannon and Menomonee Falls)

District No. 5 (Towns of Menomonee Falls and Brookfield)

District No. 6 (Villages of Menomonee Falls, Lannon and Town of Lisbon)

District No. 7 (Town of Lisbon)

District No. 10 (Village of Butler, Towns of Brookfield, and Menomonee Falls)

District Number 5 was the home of the Marcy Elementary School, Number 6 theWillow Spring Elementary, and Number 10 Butler Elementary.

ACQUISITION: The State Historical Society of Wisconsin acquired thematerial from the school district in 1983 (accession number C1983/010).
