Lynndale Farms Raceway / Race Track

Lynndale Farms Raceway was a road racing course situated about 20 miles west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It opened in 1963 and closed in 1967. Most websites list the track as being in Pewaukee, but it actually existed in the Town of Lisbon (with a Pewaukee postal address).
The following photos are courtesy of Jeff Nelson and his father who is an avid race track fan. He was about 23 years old living in Waukesha and, interested in racing, he participated as an SCCA track crew on corners with getting drivers back on the track, or out of their wrecked vehicles.
From Jeff: I did a quickGoogle search and I found a link to a website with some history and more photos of the track than I have:http://lynndalefarms.homestead.com/. Googling “Lynndale farms raceway” turned up some other links, most of them point back to this main page. They also reference the Journal Sentinel article by the link, but its broken and it doesnt link to www.jsonline.com any longer (http://www.jsonline.com/homes/buy/dec03/190254.asp). However, the date/year on the link could be useful in contacting the Journal to see if its in their archives anywhere.
Attached are the slides (old Kodachrome slides) transferred to digital format (by Jeff’s wife); then enhanced using a photo-shop type editor. The first photo is the “un-enhanced version”. These are “thumbnail size…click on image to see full-size version in new window. The Journal-Sentinel did a great story on the race-track a couple of years ago.

Roost up and running at Lynndale Farm

It’s been a busy month for Kristine Wright and Jane Bellante.
The co-owners of the new handmade marketplace Roost first walked into the store, which was previously the Old Lynndale Farm, in early February. By March 1, the store was open for business.
The store, at N47 W28270 Lynndale Road, has more than 50 vendors who rent space from Bellante and Wright.
“It’s like a perpetual art fair or flea market where everybody kind of stocks their own booth,” Bellante explained.
Bellante said Roost has vintage and handmade finds, upcycled, painted furniture and handmade furniture as well as art paintings.
Pat Leverence, the property owner, rents the property to Bellante and Wright.
The timing felt right for Bellante, who created Morning Dew Creations, a business where she paints furniture. Bellante has done that for the past four years and has been connected with the community Roost will hopefully reach.
“We knew we could fill (Roost,)” Bellante said. “And we did.”
Leverence owned the complex of barns since 1994, one year after her family moved to Pewaukee from Brookfield. The parcel was 13 acres when she originally bought it. In 2010, she decided to retire because her husband, Kenneth, was in poor health and put the barn up for sale.
The property was also a hub for a racetrack in the 1960s. Lynndale Farms Raceway operated from 1963-67. The raceway was later converted into Lynndale Farms subdivision.
