100 years ago – Week of Dec. 12, 1912

George Hoenig a local area cattle buyer shipped a carload of fancy steers to Chicago from Colgate.

The warm, favorable weather has allowed Lannon stone crushers to continue their work and there is a good demand for the product.

Lisbon farmers are getting their fall plowing done.

S.C. Redford and Julie Stein were recently married.

50 years ago – Week of Dec. 12, 1962

Coach Bill Connor’s Hamilton High School JV wrestlers had the school’s first wrestling meet. In the 20-member team, Connor pointed out these five: Mike Reimer, Mike Wilson, Jack Curtis, Bob Higley and Ronnie Boerst.

Sussex Boy Scout Pack 39 includes these Scouts: Jeffery Tetzlaff, Randy Schuldt, Paul Cain, Jimmy Donkle and Mervin Wenzel with den chief Dennis Ries. Kenneth Schuldt is the pack chairman.

25 years ago – Week of Dec. 12, 1987

Lannon Police officer Kenneth Steizel is retiring after 22 years. The Lannon Police Chief is Bill Galbaith.

Christmas trees are being sold on Main Street in Sussex by Olde Country Floral Shop.

Lannon is considering having municipal well water as well tests show bad water in shallow household wells.

The cost for cable TV in Lisbon will increase to $16.95 from the current rate of $13.

10 years ago – Week of Dec. 12, 2002

The Sussex Lisbon Area Historical Society will buy the last of five local railroad depots, the North Western Depot. It was moved to its downtown Sussex location in 1978. The historical society will use it for a museum.

The disc golf course has been officially OK’d for Sussex Village Park.

Cindy Vance is the “Farmer’s Agent of the Year” and was awarded a plaque at her Sussex office.

Five years ago – Week of Dec. 12, 2007

Sophomore Kameron Ceroni scored a school record 40 points in one game in an 87-84 win over Milwaukee Marshall.

Foreclosures have soared to a 50-year high in Waukesha County.
