100 years ago – 1910
Michael Ennis journeyed through the snow from Colgate to Menomonee Falls for business reasons.
This past month, in Colgate Mr. and Mrs. John Melville lost a daughter, Marlou, at age 6. She had been sick for only a very short time.
50 years ago – 1960
Jerry Tetzlaff had 29 points in an overtime loss by the Sussex Halquist Land O’ Lakes basketball team to the Menomonee Falls Badgers, 84-79. Tetzlaff’s brothers, Doug and Ted, had 18 points combined.
Beverly Rich and Albin “Bud” Halquist are married in Round Lake, Ill.
25 years ago – 1985
Scott Weinandt, 18, a Hamilton senior and wrestler, has earned his Eagle Scout rank. Cub Scouting is now 55 years old and alive in Sussex and Lannon.
Oliver Wiggins is the leader (Worshipful Master) at the 111th anniversary of Sussex Ashlar Masonic Lodge.
Donn Erickson has been the walking and vehicle postal delivery man in Sussex for the past 10 years.
10 years ago – 2000
Sussex Fire Chief Robert Schlei is retiring.
Huffy Sports is a huge business in the Sussex Corporate Center industrial park in southwest Sussex.
Christ Swartz has served 10 years as the Sussex Village Administrator.
Five years ago – 2005
The Sussex Village Board picked Sussex-dwelling Delafield police officer Jim Batzko to replace resigning Village Trustee Vickie Braden.
Stephanie Rossman and Christa Truppe scored 15 points each as the Jr Charger eighth-grade girls went 20-4 overall with a 38-7 win over Brookfield East.

100 years ago – February 24, 1910
Ford cars are being shown with a price tag of $950. A Reo car costs $1,250.
Work has commenced for the year at the Wallen Quarry in Lannon.
In Templeton, on Feb. 25, Herman Munz married Alma Reisling. Herman Munz will move from Pewaukee to live in the hometown of his wife, Templeton.
50 years ago – February 24, 1960
The Lannon Fire Department Auxiliary hosts a Feb. 22 luncheon at the fire department hall.
Thomas E. Lees, 67, a life-time Sussex-area resident died Feb. 15, 1960. He spent 24 years hauling milk from the Sussex-Lisbon farms. He was a charter member of the Sussex Volunteer Fire Department in 1922.
25 years ago – February 24, 1985
Robert Schlei, Sussex’s first assistant fire chief is the Sussex Firefighter of the Year.
Dean Balister and Chris Hansen were the king and queen at the annual Turn About Dance.
After two years, the Sussex Junior Miss Pageant will be discontinued.
After 55 years as Lannon’s treasurer, Harvey Rossman will retire.
10 years ago – February 24, 2000
The six Cooperating Churches of Sussex will stage a summertime flea market at the Sussex Petro grounds.
The Sussex Teen Center is using the gym stage area of the Sussex Community Hall for their activities.
Business Park is eyed for the Mindemann farm on Silver Spring Drive.
There is a move to charge the Lannon Stonemen Land O’ Lakes Baseball team $100 for night games at Joecks Field.
5 years ago – February 24, 2005
Lannon will have a $30,000,000 Whispering Ridge Subdivision development north of Highway 74 and east of Town Line Road. It is envisioned as a 220-unit development. It could house 492 people and be one-third of the Lannon population.
Sandy Burkhalter and Darlene Ehley become Lannon Lions Club members.
