Edward Brown of Sussex lost 140 chickens when his chicken coop caught fire.
Albert Weber was convalescing from an attack of diphtheria.
Several of Will Edwards sheep were badly injured by stray dogs.
Mrs. Edward Brown was suffering from an attack of lumbago.
Jacob Stier sold his Lisbon farm in the towns central area.
50 years ago-1956
Lannon Grade School had 16 graduates.
Mrs. Harvey Rossman was the newspaper correspondent for Lannon.
Lannon was planning its annual Indian Festival for June 15-17, sponsored by the Lannon Advancement Association. The previous years festival attracted an estimated 35,000 people.
Sussex had a mini market. The Corner Fair, at Orchard and Main. The proprietor was S.C. Vredenbregt.
25 years ago-1981
St. James Catholic Church Grade School had 21 graduates.
The Rev. Paul Anderson was the new pastor at Christ Our Savior Lutheran.
Marge Stier Kramer retired from teaching in the Hamilton School District after 42 years.

Eric Leicht was the Hamilton High School valedictorian. Sara Hoffman was the salutatorian.
Incumbent Bill Kruziki was again seeking the Waukesha County sheriffs position, running against former Waukesha County Sheriff Arnold Moncada.

Jon Waite was named the new Hamilton High School band director, following his stint as a band director in New Mexico.
The $1.1 million Sussex Firehouse addition and remodeling was nearing completion.

The young ladies sewing club of Sussex Methodist Church met at the home of Eunice Davidson.
Alex Davidson bought the John Stone farm.
Lisbon farmer George McKerrow sailed to England for a 10 week stay to buy blooded stock for his sheep and dairy herds.
50 years ago-1956
Lannon passed an anti-dust rock crusher ordinance, which required rock crushers to buy a $12 license and abstain from emitting excessive noise or dust.
The Village of Lannon president was Joseph Turner.
Airman 2C Glen Moody was stationed in Maryville, Tenn.
The Sussex Lions Club chartered two buses to take their wives to a Milwaukee Braves baseball home game.
25 years ago-1981
The Piggly Wiggly in Lannon had $5,100 stolen in a burglary.
Vandals chopped down a 30 foot pine tree at Hamilton, but were later caught.
10 years ago-1996
There were 204 graduates at the 32nd Hamilton graduation ceremony, which was held inside because of bad weather.
Patricia Polczsynski was the new principal at Templeton Middle School.
Templeton Middle School had 248 graduates.
5 years ago-2001
The fastest growing age bracket in Sussex was the 65 and older group.
Hamilton seniors received $772,000 in scholarships at the class awards night.
Hamilton girls took the second place trophy at the WIAA stat track meet; Jenny Prochazka won both weight events.

Dr. Chapman of Milwaukee was called to Sussex to treat the daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Will. Miss Rickter, a trained nurse from Milwaukee, had been employed to care for the sick child.
Mr and Mrs George Hayers entertained a large group at the Marsden Hall loft in Sussex for their 15th wedding anniversary.

Donna Kazmerchak and Bob Zimmerman married.
Sussexs Audrey Stier, with a bachelors degree in history, taught at Nicolet High School while attending Marquette University to get her masters degree.
Perry Halquist, who suffered critical injuries in a Milwaukee car accident, recovered at County General Hospital.
St. James Catholic Church will spend $10,000 on a convent next to their new school.

Sussex and Lisbon considered merging.
Mammoth Spring Canning Co. donated $500 to the Sussex Library and $500 to the new Sussex Teen Center.
Templeton Middle School graduated 275 eighth graders.

Lisbon Supervisor Marilyn Marchese pushed to get the town administrator position after a spat with Town Chairman Don Holt and Town Clerk Betty Fryda over a late payment of federal withholding taxes.
A memorial maple tree was planted in Sussex Village Park for Nory Cain.

Hamilton graduated 285 students in a ceremony held indoors because of the atrocious weather in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Tracy Gest, an incoming Hamilton junior, won the junior division of Wisconsins Miss National Teenager.
Tom Konkol left the girls soccer coach position. He had coached 17 of the varsity programs previous 20 years.

The German Methodist Church held services in the Lisbon Town Hall every Sunday afternoon.
The Jolly Five gave a May Ball dance at the Sussex Marsden Loft.
Everett Gerkin purchased the old Charles Brown farm on Good Hope Road.

Eugene Belongia returned as principal of the Sussex Main Street School.
Mary Sennott, wife of farmer William Sennott of Lake Five, died at the age of 70.
Sussex started discussing installation of a sanitary sewer system when the state started pushing the village to do so.
The Sussex population neared 1,000, up from the 1950 U.S. census figure of 686.
Lightning destroyed a barn on Hillside Road just north of Howards Lane.

Canada geese were so rare in Sussex that a front-page Sussex Sun picture featured a lone goose in the Sussex swimming quarry.
Sussex and Lisbon debated a merger July 1 at the Lisbon Town Hall.
Under Coach Dick Bilda, the Hamilton baseball team was in first place in the Braveland Conference.

The Sussex postmaster was Bernice Harris.
After its Duplainville Road Location was denied by the Town of Lisbon, the Wisconsin Auto Auction planned to try again with a new site off Highway J (Highway 164 today).
The Town of Lisbon voted 4-1, to prohibit the sale of fireworks in the town. The lone dissenting vote was cast by William Grigg, who wanted an even tougher measure.

Sussex considered drilling shallow wells to mix their water with the villages deep wells to dilute radium problems.
