1914 100 years ago
Construction of the Canadian Grand Truck Railroad to the Pacific is completed.
Mr. Walter Jones of Lannon married in late January in Iron Ridge, Ill.
Wholesale prices for large live chickens varies between 12 and 15 cents. Roosters bring 9 cents a pound. Wholesale cheese prices are 27 cents per pound while Limburger cheese is priced at 15 cents a pound.

The new Sussex VFW is serving Friday night fish fries. There is also a carry out version.
Thirteen area candidates have filed for election for the seven seats on the Hamilton School Board. Voting is on the 24th.
Cake mixes are three for $1.
In Lannon, Keith Gissal was elected chief of the Lannon Fire Department, while Matt Schneider is the assistant chief. Sydney Gissal is the secretary and Robert Monacelli is the treasurer.

Redeemer Untied Church of Christ on Town Line Road will have a major addition to their church, south of Lisbon Road.
The first week of February 1989 saw temperatures drop to a -8 degrees and 5 1/2 inches of s now fell. This after a warm January with several days in the 50s and a high of 59 on Jan. 31.

Ousted Lannon plan commission member Karen Heitzman did not absent herself from the Jan. 21 Lannon Plan Commission meeting. Karen insisted on sitting in on the meting in her regular seat, but Commission leader Bob Winter, after some extended prodding, silenced her. She remained, however, in her podium seat as a non-talking member.
Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lisbon on Howards Lane is now 20 years old and will have appropriate celebrations.

The Sussex Silver Skillet chef (Sussex Senior Citizen Center) has died at age 58 from cancer on Jan. 30, 2009.
Lisbon delays a threatened highway work layoff of two members as a result of the current union and recession issues.
Mary L. Treloar, 83, wife of Austin Treloar for 61 years, died Feb. 7, 2009. Richard Austin Treloar is a Sussex World War II Veteran of the Pacific War. Wife and husband are near lifetime residents of Sussex.
