Waukesha Sheriff John Sleep received the Gold Star from the Waukesha County Municipal Court, presented by V. H. Tiecnor.
Meanwhile, Charles Slawson of Pewaukee is the deputy register of deeds.
The governor of the state of Wisconsin is Emanuel L. Philipp.
The Menomonee Falls newspaper announced that two Falls men, both with youth connections to Germany, went back to Germany to fight in World War I and they were killed.

The Sussex Area Youth Band will present a winter concert at the Maple Avenue School.
The members of Willow Springs School’s sixth grade held a clothing drive for the Donald Roso family, which was left homeless by a house fire. Their teacher is Attilio Zanoni.
Hamilton’s football and basketball teams for next school year received a jolt as the starting quarterback and a leader on the basketball team will transfer to Germantown for his senior year.

By a 4-1 vote, the Lisbon Town Board has stopped consideration of joining the village of Sussex. Only Don Holt voted to continue negotiations.
The fish fry at Dilly’s is $5.39.
Mark’s Sussex Sentry Store advertises boneless sirloin steak at $1.98 per pound.
The village of Sussex is operating with an administrator but hopes to have one soon at the new Sussex Village Hall (the former Main Street School).
There is 8 inches of heavy snow covering Sussex-Lisbon and more is expected.

Sussex picked Jim Batzko as its newest village board trustee. He is also a police officer in Delafield.
Lannon is opening a new subdivision, Whispering Ridge, and expects to increase its population by 50 percent.
Jeremy Smith is the assistant Sussex administrator.
The eighth-grade girls basketball team at Templeton Middle School is now 20-4.

The Templeton Middle School eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams have won major championships as they are led by future Hamilton stars Brady Ellingson and MacKenzie Latt, who both went on to become the school’s all-time leading scorers.
Sussex Trustee Pat Tetzlaff has received an award from the Waukesha County Parks System for her leadership in cleaning up the Bug Line Trail going through Sussex.

In other Lannon news, several men went to Milwaukee to view the annual car show.
In a somber note, the Waukesha tax collector was in Lannon, relieving the property owners of their surplus cash.
Lannon residents James Loden and Mr. and Mrs. John Orth were all on a trip to Milwaukee.

Mrs. Swen (Betty) Magnusson is heading up the AFS program at Hamilton High School.
A Valentine’s Day suggestion is to buy a parakeet, normally $2.99, for the sale price of $2.20 at the Menomonee Falls Woolworth’s store.
The Sussex Zion United Church of Christ has a new pastor, the Rev. Frederick A. Ludwig.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stier celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Keith Wunrow, long-time superintendent of educational services at Hamilton High School, will retire this spring.
An East Troy clerk, Chris Swartz, is the new Sussex administrator.

The Horne Mudlitz VFW held the 29th annual state championship tiddlywinks tournament. It was a charity event to raise money for the VA Hospital.
Lisbon may reduce the speed limit on Lake Five Road to 35 mph from the current 45.

Steve and Nicole Babits took over the Sussex M&M 30 years ago. So Didier Babits is taking over.

The right for women to vote (suffrage) went down to an overwhelming defeat in the United States House of Representatives by a vote of 264-174. A two-thirds vote was necessary. The Democrats want it to be a state-by-state initiative while the Republicans are in favor of them getting a national decision.
Earl Grogan of Sussex visited Menomonee Falls. Albin Holz of Colgate travelled to Menomonee Falls to transact business.
50 years ago 1965
Chicken wings sell for 28 cents per pound. Ham is 39 cents a pound.
Al McGuire, the basketball coach at Marquette University, will be a featured speaker at Hamilton’s first athletic banquet, set for May 3.
There is a push to hire a summer coordinator for youth activities in Sussex. A large crowd attended the village board meeting asking for the coordinator’s pay.

Stanley and Margaret (Krause) Miller of Lannon are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. He is past commander of the Sussex VFW.
Sean Gissal was Hamilton’s only conference champion in wrestling, having posted a 19-4-1 record to date.
Colgate’s postmaster for 23 years, Lynn Burton, is retiring.
Bob Schlei is the chief of the Sussex Fire Department.

Hamilton swept archrival Menomonee Falls 56-42 in boys basketball. Jim Liermann scored 17 points for coach Andy Cerroni’s Chargers.
The Lake Five-Hickory area of the town of Lisbon has some major flooding.
Hamilton student Flora Zeng made it to the National Merit finals.
Lannon Village President Dan Martin does not want the village to enforce paving driveways. He doesn’t want Lannon to have “driveway police.”

Of the 14 Hamilton wrestlers who competed in the regional meet, 12 advanced to the sectional. Aaron Friss at 160 pounds is 36-5 for the season.

Esther Boots, wife Henry S. Boots and daughter of William Munn, died Feb. 20, 1915, and was buried at St. Alban’s. She was 81 years old.
Mr. E. P. Davis, while on a trip to California from Lannon, died in San Diego, where he had to regain his health from a slight stroke. He was a quarry man, farmer and in business in Lannon prior to his death.

Art Manke, a farmer just outside of the Sussex Village Park, is the chairman of the town of Lisbon. The two supervisors are also farmers, Ted Siewert and Harry Dopke.
Mike Reimer is a top wrestler at Hamilton in the 165-pound weight class.
The Sussex Home and School Club is sponsoring a “baby sitting and home safety” course.
The members of the Sussex Village Board are John Karner as president plus trustees Raddenbach, Mattila, Semrow, Weber, Fagan and Evert.

Harold Meissner, a Lisbon farmer, has died at age 88.
The Hamilton cheerleaders took first place in state competition.
The target date to open new, renovated Sussex Village Hall in the former Sussex High School is Memorial Day.
The Rev. James Eschweiler is set to retire at St. James Catholic Church.

The new Lannon Whispering Ridge subdivision on Highway 74 is working with a group on a sound-sight barrier to the north where a century-old quarry is still operating. This subdivision should give a tax break to Lannon residents.
There is a final attempt to stop the installation of the four lanes on the new Highway 164. Someone put up a sign saying, “I am against 4 lanes; I want 6.”

Four-year starter Brett Meinecke became the third Charger boys basketball player to score more than 1,000 points in a career.
For the fourth time, a Lisbon incumbent has been defeated in a primary. Incumbent Ron Esser was defeated and Steve Patten and Ryan Lippert will face each other in the upcoming general election.
