John S. Roesch, age 65 and the husband of the deceased Mary, died just before 1915 and was buried at the Lisbon Merton Cemetery.
“Baer & Gringo,” who would become famous in Lisbon-Sussex in a few years, are in business in Menomonee Falls. To make a call to order groceries, use your telephone and ask for number “541.”

The Sussex Malsch Furniture Store is holding a clearance sale. It is located at 217 W. Main St.
Banks are paying 4 percent on CDs.
Bone steaks sell for $1.09 per pound.
Robert J. Goode is the president of the Sussex branch of the F&M Bank.
Mrs. Ray Ehler is the Sussex area columnist for the Menomonee Falls News.

The long-time principal of Templeton Middle School, Gordon Heier, is going to retire. At age 63, he has had 20 years as principal at TMS.
Lannon is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Lannon Post Office.

James Thalke is in charge of all the wastewater in Sussex (sewer superintendent).

Hank Carlson, former Sussex trustee and currently a county supervisor plus being the president of the Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society, died rather suddenly at age 68 on Dec. 27.
Hamilton’s Kellyn Johnson won the state Division 1 title in the 1600 meters.
Meanwhile, Lannon’s Land O’ Lakes team was grand champions in 2004.

Management was led by Keith Everson to finalize a buyout of the Sussex Rexam PLC. It will re-open as Sussex IM, Inc. There is a work force of 200 at this West Main Street company. The company was founded in 1977.
The president of the Sussex Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) is Heather Plalz of the local Waukesha State Bank. She is also a resident of Sussex.

Woodrow Wilson is the president of the United States.
World War I (called the Great War) will play out the entire year of 1915. Italy joins Britain and France as the Allies. The first-ever use of poison gas is by the Germans. They also introduced flame throwers on the western front (France).
50 years ago 1965
Lannon will not move into its new $61,000 municipal building for several weeks, according to Village Clerk Charles Delany. Meanwhile, the old Lannon Village Hall will not be for sale. Today, it is located at Lannon and Good Hope roads.
Community organizations are holding paper drives to raise money for projects.
The Hamilton boys basketball team is coached by Horace Moran.

The combined classes of 1984-85 won the Hamilton alumni basketball holiday tournament, led by Kelly Anton.
Carolyn Limjoco and Nancy Mansavage will leave the Hamilton School Board after nine years of service.
Lisbon reopened consolidation talks with Sussex.
The Lisbon town president is Don Holt.

Sussex resident Todd Van Lare has been charged with the murder of his wife and the trial will start Jan. 21.
Michael Knapp, the incumbent for the Sussex village president position, has a deceased Hank Carlson running against him.
Gerald Schmitz is running for Lisbon town chairman.
Dan Martin is unopposed in the race of Lannon village president.

Lisbon has proposed that the majority of road repair this year will be for Lake Five Road.
An employee at the Sussex George Webb restaurant who found $1,000 on the floor and turned it over to authorities to find the rightful owner, just might get the money as no one has come forward to claim it.
Brett Meinecke hit a layup with three seconds left as Hamilton scored a 55-53 victory over Brookfield Central in boys basketball.

Charles Malsch, who owns a horse and saddle store and has started the Malsch Furniture Store, is the chairman of the town of Lisbon. Meanwhile, long-time Sussex and Lannon school principal John Stier is a big politician-businessman in Sussex-Lisbon. In 1917, he would replace Malsch.
50 years ago 1965
Braeger’s Market, a sort of butcher shop, deli and neighborhood quick grocery store at 100 Elmwood Ave. in Sussex, is going out of business and is staging a shelf and equipment sale. Jerry Braeger, the owner, will become a butcher at area big box stores.
Five cans of 17-ounce halves of peaches sell for $1.
The installation of new officers for the Sussex Lila B. Graser Order of the Eastern Star took place at the Sussex Masonic Temple. Lorraine Kirsten is the Worthy Matron.

Findlay’s On Main is a hot dining establishment in Sussex.
Engineers are doing studies for possible Lisbon hook-ups to the Sussex sewer plant for specific areas.
Al Perkins was last year’s president of the Sussex-Lisbon Business and Professional Association.
Dilly’s (a bar) is offering $6.75 New York steak dinners.

Sara Kroll had 21 points as the Hamilton girls basketball team scored a 63-58 overtime victory over West Allis Central.
Hamilton High School thinks it needs a fieldhouse because of the limited space in the school’s gyms.
A 10th generation baptism occurred at St. Alban’s as Abigail Hollenstein was baptized. Her family tree dates back to the co-founder of St. Alban’s and the man considered the Father of Sussex-Lisbon, James Weaver.

The new, revised Sussex IM business may hire new employees to augment the current 200.
Don Carey is the new girls basketball coach, leading a program that has not had a .500 season since 1991. The team has a .500 record with a non-conference victory over Waukesha North.

Dr. Cornilia Greulich of Sussex called on his parents in Goldenthal (now Goldendale).
A Lisbon pioneer woman, Mathilda Greengo, has died at nearly 76 years old on Dec. 29, 1914. She was married to a North Lisbon farmer, George Greengo. She is survived by Dr. Claude Greengo of Los Angeles and daughter Katherine, who lives on the homestead farm.
50 years ago 1965
The Hamilton School District is reluctantly making a settlement for the controversial abandoned Butler grade school pool construction.
The Falls-Lisbon Republican Party Club will hold its first meeting of the new year.
Republican Warren Knowles is the governor of the state of Wisconsin.
Sussex Fire Chief Bob Stier reported 84 runs for 1964, 17 for the village and 67 for the town of Lisbon.
John Karner is the Sussex Village President.

The Sussex Lioness Club will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
Lisbon Plank School (by Halquist) is planning an all-school reunion for Aug. 12. Started in 1839, it closed as a one-room school in 1951.
Christa Goetz scored 16 points to get to 352 for her young basketball career. She would later become the all-time leading scorer in Hamilton High School history during her senior year.

Evan Teich will take over as the new Sussex administrator in March.
Three are contesting for the vacant (by death) seat of County Supervisor Hank Carlson: Robert Hutton, Daniel Meissner and Christopher Meagher.
Kameron Cerroni scored 19 points for the Templeton Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball team as it beat Menomonee Falls, 34-32.

Lisbon and Menomonee Falls are in a zoning dispute over development adjacent to Town Line Road.
The Hamilton girls basketball team won 47-35 over Menomonee Falls, with Courtney Lemon scoring 24 points. The girls team is now 7-5 for the season.
Templeton Middle School student Robert Little was the champion of the annual district spelling bee.
