R.H. Gumz of Lannon has been awarded the contract to furnish crushed gravel on the first state road in Menomonee Falls.

A summer library in Sussex for grade school children was run by Isabel Podolske; 598 books were checked out.
Wilbur Rank beat Philip Kuehn in the Republican primary for Wisconsin governor.

Week of Sept. 5, 1987
The explosion on Aug. 9 at the Quality Block Co. on Highway J has been labeled arson by Lisbon Fire Chief Joe Farley. The Lisbon Fire Department with the Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin Department of Justice have been investigating.
It rained 15 of 31 days in August.
The 1987 clearance of new cars by Jack Safro shows Mitsubishis at $5,520, Monteros at $9,769 and Galants at $13,824.

The Sussex Park Board and the Village Board are considering a proposal to bring a disc golf course to Village Park.
Carol Jean Zimmerman, 47, a 1973 Hamilton graduate and former Sussex resident, was murdered in Brookings, Ore., on July 29.
